Music Wellness Programs

Program Type: Activity

Description: Recent research indicates that adults of any age, engaging weekly in customized musical activities, show improvement in both their physical and mental health, as they enjoy activities that engage and strengthen the mind and body. Improved memory, self-balance, breathing, and ability to multi-task are only a few of the benefits gained, in addition to having the chance to socialize, and make music together.

Choose from:
Movement and Music = Move to the rhythm and melodies of different eras and styles of music. Experiment with the Octaband, stretchy band, parachute, scarves, ribbons, percussion instruments, and purposeful movements.

Improvising Through the Instruments = New instruments will be introduced weekly from xylophones, to world percussion instruments, to Soundbeam technology. Explore various musical experiences.

Radio Play = Create a story as a group adding humour, suspense, action, or romance. Add sound effects, musical accompaniment, & record a dramatic reading to bring the story to life.

Suzuki Handbell Choir = The handbells then ring out the melody of the song with direction from the conductor. The handbells are made from a light-weight aluminum and are designed to be easy to hold and play.

Jukebox Sing Along = Sing Along with Tunes from the 1910’s to the 1970’s accompanied by Guitar, Piano, Ukulele, and a variety of percussive instruments.

Relax through Music = Enjoy guided relaxation with a variety of instrumental music, soundscapes, piano, and acoustic guitar.
